Physiotherapy in Banbury
– A More Personal, Hands-On Alternative

When Standard Physiotherapy Hasn't Been Enough

We hear similar stories from a lot of people

"I waited ages for my physio appointment."

"They barely had time to look at me properly."

"I was given exercises, but no one really explained what was going on."

If you’re in pain and searching for physiotherapy in Banbury, you’ve probably had one of these experiences:

  • You’ve been referred for NHS physio and are still waiting to be seen

  • You’ve had a few short appointments and been sent away with a sheet of exercises

  • Things helped a bit, but you never quite got back to feeling “right”

For some people, that’s enough. For many others, it isn’t.

At Chestnut Osteopathic Practice in Banbury, we offer a private, hands-on alternative to standard physiotherapy. Osteopathy isn't just about backs – we look at how you move as a whole, which is particularly important for sport and with everyday injuries.

Questions

What is the difference between a physiotherapist and an osteopath?

A physiotherapist generally aims to restore movement and function following an injury, surgery or illness. They generally focus only on the specific injury area and place a heavy emphasis on self-conducted exercise-based rehabilitation.  Osteopaths instead focus on the interrelation between the body's structure (bones, muscles, ligaments, and all the organs that support it) and its overall function. It is a holistic approach that looks for the root cause of the problem, which may not be where the pain is. The therapy is heavily hands-on based and includes stretching, massage, articulation, and spinal manipulation.

Can I see you while I'm on the NHS physio waiting list?

Yes. You can book in with us directly at any time – you don't have to wait for your NHS referral. If we think you need further medical input, we'll always point you back to your GP or consultant.

Can I see you as well as my physiotherapist?

Of course. Lots of people do that. We'll always aim to complement, not contradict, any existing rehab plan. If we ever need to speak to your physio or doctor, we'll ask your permission first.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. New, simple problems can sometimes settle in a couple of sessions; longer-standing issues may need more. We'll give you an honest idea after your first appointment and won't keep you coming if you're not improving.

Is osteopathy safe?

Yes. Osteopathy is regulated by law in the UK. Our osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and follow strict standards around safety, training and professionalism. We'll always explain what we're doing and work within your comfort levels.
